Culture - tourism festival opens in Yen Bai

The Culture – Tourism Festival of Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai northern provinces, entitled “Hanh Trinh Ve Coi Nguon - Journey to the Roots” opened in the Yen Bai central square on February 13.
A grand opening performance for the festival, called Hidden Colours, featured music performances by over 800 professional artists and traditional artisans from various villages.
For the first time, a carnival was held, showcasing various tourism destinations of the three provinces, with the highlight being the reflections of Hung Kings Worshipping, which attracts millions of visitors and pilgrims.
It also features many other festivals of the ethnic groups, such as the Long Tong festival, Tet Nhay festival, Mung Com Moi festival and other sporting games often played by the ethnic groups during spring time.
The festival also features a lot of traditional fairs in the northern mountains, which are not just the trading hubs, but also centres of fun, love and friendship. It also brings visitors to natural scenery, such as the Ba Waterfall and Thuan Bac Lake.
The region is home to various tourist areas, such as the Xuan Son primeval forest with rare animals, plants, and caves, as well as beautiful streams and waterfalls. Tourists can also go to Vietnam’s highest mountains in Lao Cai province, or the town of Sa Pa.
Tourists are being encouraged to use the festival as a stepping stone to explore other sightseeing delights the mountainous region has to offer. The festival is the first ever held the region with various other cultural and tourist activities.
